She sits on a throne surrounded by a sea dragon to show that in addition to being the Goddess of Love and Mercy she is also revered by mariners.From Bob Weisblut's Collection: An authentic 19th c. African elephant tusk which tells a story in the round. This one tells of a tribe carrying tusks that the Chief sells to a European trader. They receive cloth in trade from which they make the clothing they can be seen on the bottom row.

From Robert Overton's Collection: Mid 1800's carving of a boy hunter from Dieppe, France, elephant ivory. He is carrying a cross-bow with the arrows at his side. His catch, a pheasant, hangs down his back. Very detailed for only being a 2.75 inch carving. (4.25 inches on plinth.)
